This paper assumes that the electorate of local self-government units\nin the urban area, namely the town of Zapre\u0161i\u0107, is not aware of the\nsimilarity of opinions and ideas on particular topics related to the town\nthey live in. In this context, the main goal of the paper is to establish the\nimportance of political programs in the selection of electoral preferences\nin the town of Zapre\u0161i\u0107. In other words, it explores the extent to which\npolitical programs are relevant to voter preferences in the local elections\nin Zapre\u0161i\u0107. Guided by the theoretical concepts of reflexive modernity\nand the concept of alienation in the works of Karl Marx, the possibility of\nreflexivity in local politics in the Republic of Croatia (the example of the\ntown of Zapre\u0161i\u0107) is examined. The results of the research indicate that\nthe local politics of the town of Zapre\u0161i\u0107 does not possess the necessary\nreflexive character specific to contemporary democratic processes,\nbut rather refers more to national politics; while losing the action\ncomponent that local politics should possess. The political campaign of\n2017 is symbolized by political programs that have been constructed in\na general way, without giving seriousness to solving particular problems\nof the town. The ANOVA test of variance analysis showed that there is\nno statistically significant difference in agreement with the statements\n(political programs of different parties) in relation to the electoral\npreferences of the citizens of Zapresi\u0107 in the 2017 local elections. In\nother words, political party programs in the 2017 local elections did not\nplay a key role in selecting city government representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
